Painting
Ken
Melvin did not realize he had a true talent for painting until he saw the work
his son, Dan Melvin, created. As a young boy, Ken drew many pencil drawings of
cartoon characters and the world around him. But he did not pursue art until
after retiring as an engineer.
Ken
prefers to paint scenes that capture everyday people and the worlds they live
in or could have lived in. He works to create scenes of realistic fiction where
individuals and their surroundings blend together to tell a story. Ken paints
with oils in colors that are appropriate to the scene and uses photographs as
visual aids for details and perspectives.
