Ceramics & Floor Cloths

Debbie Moore received a B.S. in Interior Furnishings from Auburn University, but chose a career as a flight attendant instead. When her daughter was five-years-old, Debbie enrolled the two of them in a ceramics class.  She wanted to be creative with her child; she never expected to fall in love with the art form. Debbie considers herself a self-taught artist but she believes that her early training in college guides her eye in choosing design and color.

Ceramics are Debbie’s true love. She finds the designing and painting fun and enjoyable. Using pre-made objects, Debbie uses ceramic paint to create bright, colorful designs that are inspired by current trends in interior design. She glazes and fires her ceramics at City Ceramics in Selma.

Debbie was encouraged by a friend to copy a ready-made floor cloth. Using linoleum remnants, Debbie covers the back of the remnant with painted primer before using acrylic paints to create her original designs. Three coats of polyurethane protect the colors from chipping and fading.
