Wade
Parnell always felt he had a natural gift for creating artwork. Although
he has a minor in art studies from the University of South Alabama, Wade also
considers himself self-taught. He created small sculptures from old junk,
barbed wire and such, before seriously turning to painting as his art form.
Wade is the Artist in Residence at the Washington County Public Library, where
he also serves as the Reference Librarian.
Wade creates his artwork out of a happy spirit, which he wants the
viewer to experience. Because of its originality, Wade has very little back
stock of his paintings. Using a mix of paints (which sometimes includes
ordinary house paint and high gloss automotive paint), he creates a textural
space that cries out to be touched. Wade wants the viewer to see and feel
his art by using their eyes and their fingers. His extreme mixes of colors
are used to portray emotions and visuals that capture light at its most
brilliant.
