Butler County
Whimsical
Acrylic Paintings
A love of art since childhood –
specifically drawing and painting – and the inspiration provided by her aunt,
Faye Dixon Bennett, are powerful motivations for Megan being an artist
today. Since her teenage years, she has enjoyed creating whimsical acrylic
paintings. Although Megan is a self-taught artist, she has gleaned considerable
knowledge from her college years at the University of Montevallo.
With three to four days of work
ahead of her, Megan begins a project. Each painting is created on canvas, tin,
or particle board using acrylic paint. All of Megan’s materials are purchased
from local and regional art supply stores. She remarks that her reward for each
completed painting is to see the appreciation from others for the art she has
created.
Her paintings are also
available at the Alabama Heritage Foundation
in Thomaston, Alabama.
