Hale County
Photography Note Cards
Since she was a young girl,
photographing nature has been a love of Jean Watson. She and her mother
photographed wild flowers during Jean's childhood years. This lifelong
hobby has taken a more prominent place in Jean's life since her retirement in
1999. After 30 years of teaching biological sciences- one year at Macon Academy
and the rest at Southern Academy in Greensboro- Jean now has more time to spend
traveling and photographing nature and historical buildings. This became
the basis for her new business - Nana's Nature Photos.
A self-taught photographer, Jean says, "I love nature and all God's gifts
to us; this gives me the opportunity to share those gifts with
others". Her photography ranges from the smallest insect to
creatures as large as elephants. She captures intricate architectural details
as well as entire structures. Jean's travels take her from her own front
yard to as far away as Kenya,
Africa.
Her photography is done with a Canon 30D camera. Jean utilizes an Epson printer
and Epson photo paper to preserve her shots. She uses archival ink to
maintain the brilliant and amazing colors found in nature. In addition to the
prints themselves, Jean creates note cards and bookmarks featuring her
photography. She has also worked in needlepoint.
Her work can be found on her website at www.nanasnaturephotos.com
Her work can also be found at The Rural Heritage Center in Thomaston; Friends,
etc in Greenville, and AnnaKate and Company in Tuscaloosa.
