Fabric Artist

Terry states “that as far back as I can remember I’ve always been creative. I entered one of those “Draw Me” advertisements. They told me I was too young (8 years) but to try again when I was 15”.Since that early “rejection” of her art work she studied commercial art; lived in Brazil, S.A.; the State of Texas and Franklin, Alabama.Living in the Black Belt has influenced her work because “it has a lot of deep rooted history and crafts that I’ve loved to study about”.

Watching her mother and grandmother crochet was all the inspiration that was needed for Terry to learn to crochet. Her father was her artistic influence with art. Since her grandmother was left handed she was not able to teach her, but, she was offered an instructional book by her mother. Her mother taught her the basics and would help if she ran into a snag, but she soon realized that learning from the book was her best option. And all this began when she was nine years old!

Terry took several quilting classes in Texas, and is a Charter Member of Colorado Valley Quilt Guild of La Grange, Texas. This is where she became “hooked” on miniature quilting. She is fascinated watching the colors and patterns take shape during the quilting and crocheting process. She puts so much of herself into each process. Crocheted items are completed anywhere from two weeks to two months.

Displaying/selling at Black Belt Treasures is a first for Terry as she donates her afghans for raffles and fundraisers, accepts special orders and has given some of her mini quilts as friendship gifts.
