Henry
Burrage states that learning and creating have been the most rewarding and
enjoyable aspects of his life. He started his journey with a B.S. in Chemistry
and Biology from Florence State (UNA) and then studied Shoe, Boot and Saddle
courses at Oklahoma
State University.
Although he is a self-taught artist, he purchased some DVD’s on technique via
Bob Ross’ TV show and also bought several art books. Although he said he is no
longer “in the leather business” he spent seven years making cowboy boots,
saddle bags, chaps and saddles out of leather.
Mr.
Burrage’s chosen medium is oil on canvas while his subjects range from
portraits, landscapes, wildlife, log cabins, lakes and mountains. Although he
prefers to paint on 16 by 20 canvases, he has painted larger ones. His usual
time period from start to finish is two weeks to paint, spray and frame his
paintings.
