Wood Turning
For thirty
years, William has been producing attractive wood turned objects. “One
appealing quality of wood turning,” William declares “is that simple projects
could be built quickly.” His reward for being an artist of this nature is
creating beautiful items that people appreciate. William creates his
masterpieces on a lathe.
Bowls,
pepper grinders, coffee mills, rolling pins, bird houses, whatnots, pens,
pencils, and ash urns are just some of the objects he creates. Many of these
products take just a few hours to complete. Others such as his segmented bowls,
which must be glued and turned, take weeks of work before they reach the
finishing point. Scott uses wood from all over the world.
Primarily a
self-taught artisan, William has read books and watched educational videos on
wood turning. As a member of the Azalea Wood Turners Club, he has learned
tricks and techniques from demonstrators at their meetings.
Presently,
William’s wood turned creations are found at Black Belt Treasures and by
special request to the artist.
