(Wee Joes
Woodlands)
Wilcox County
Woodwork
The
following statement was written by Dawn Prouty regarding her work and family
heritage.
As any other Southern Gentleman, Wee Joe
loved his bride, working hard, and a cold beverage in his hand. He was an honest man, who loved his family
heritage, and strived to give his offspring the best in life. Although he was a
engineer by trade and a successful businessman, his true love was sitting on
the seat of a tractor or deep in the woods.
His goal in life was to own 1,000 acres of prime hunting timberland and
for it to maintained by family for future generations. As his second youngest child I was raised to
be a tomboy, to love the thrill of the hunt, and to respect and value our
timberlands. By chance I began creating
some woodwork out of downed cedar on our land for family gifts. Well low and behold folks actually liked it,
and began showing interest. Thank
goodness I learned how to use almost every hand tool in the book from old Wee
Joe, and bring a bit of “Wee Joe’s Woodlands” straight to you. No two pieces are alike, I will not cut a
tree and use only downed timber, and each item is filled with generations of
love and attention. Please enjoy your work of true southern art, and share with
the ones you love!!! Sincerely, Dawn L.
