“Over the years the Lord has increased my abilities to where I can hear music in my head and it comes out of my fingers” said Leah. She has a passion for playing the piano and said her aunt “took me on as a student” and her sister provided the “mechanics of music” when she was eight years old, but the spirit to play was a blessing from the Lord.

When asked about when, where and how her talent is used, Leah explained that she plays the piano at “home, church and work – I’d rather play the piano than eat, so when I‘m at a banquet, I play the dinner music while everyone else eats.”

When talking about special musical inspiration she received from others, Leah said her mother “sang throughout the day” and her “whole family loves music.” One of her brothers occasionally writes music while another one plays the saxophone in the Capitol Sounds Concert Band.

Living in the Black Belt inspires Leah because there are so many musical styles present. Leah produces CD’s of her music in hopes that memories of her work will be passed on from the many venues she has performed in, such as her church, nursing homes, and the Judson College Chapel where she accompanies the Faith Ensemble. She also plays for weddings, funerals, banquets and revivals.
