Clarke County
Painting
Sharon Dozier watched her father build furniture and instinctively
knew that his hands-on creativity had been passed on to her. Nearly twenty-five
years ago, Sharon began taking toll painting and folk art painting
classes. She found that her art skills continued to evolve, so Sharon
went on to become a certified faux finisher. As a child, she observed the
details in decorative wall finishes and wondered how to recreate the patterns
and textures. This inquisitive nature has now brought her to the
challenging art of oil painting.
Sharon creates her palette knife oil paintings in her home studio,
while continuing her decorative painting. She loves the loose flow of the knife
in her hand as it skips over the canvas blending color and forming textures
reminiscent of her faux finishes. She loves floral paintings that reflect
impressionism mixed with abstract. While her colors are influenced by
trends in decorating, Sharon has learned to mix fluently by continually working
with shadow and light.
Sharon’s art is also available by contacting her at
her studio.
