Woodworking

Mr. Holmes feels that the most rewarding aspect of his woodworking is when he creates something useful from material that most people would throw away.

.“Otherwise it would rot” he says.Wood that he “repurposes” comes from family land in Folsom, Alabama and includes items such as fence posts and fallen timber. “I hate to see anything go to waste,” he says.

He says he has had no formal training “but I ask a lot of questions” and continues to learn from other artisans. Some of his creations include tables, benches, serving platters, cutting boards and picture frames.

Mr. Holmes’ items are also available at The Rural Heritage Center and Folsom Custom Cuts.
