China Painting

Jeannie Lambert studied visual art design in college with the hopes of designing useful household items such as dishtowels, linens, and dishes.  She was first exposed to china painting in the early seventies at an art exhibit.  She was instantly enthralled and put her name on a waiting list for lessons.  Jeannie has been trained in the classical method of china painting (first painting background, then leaves, and finally flowers) and has taught many classes that focus on painting roses.

Jeannie feels that a china painter is a life-long learner who continually takes classes. She also believes that “the brush is no better than the painter.” An expensive brush in the hand of an inexperienced painter will not create quality artwork without much hard work and diligence.  Jeannie specializes in the detailed and tedious technique of rare gold-work and especially enjoys the time-consuming work of Dresden painting (negative spaces with white background). Generally a “blue” person, Jeannie also gravitates to a warm color palette for her flowers.
