Folk Art Painting

“I always liked doodling when I was little,” Bonnie said when she explained how she got started painting. “I love children, bright colors and nature. I would sit with my children and now my grands and try to keep busy and decided to paint again. It’s good for your mind, it especially helps me when I get to missing my son.”

She has painted with oils and water colors but prefers acrylic paints on stretched canvas. “I paint on my old antique easel, at my home.” Depending on the size of the canvas, completion of a painting can take a week or more.

Bonnie’s stated feelings of living in the Black Belt and its influence on her art are “Nature and good southern charm, such a sweetness about our culture.”
