Wooden Toys
Every young boy desires one or more of Fletcher Cox’s creations –
wooden tractors and log trucks. For twenty-five years, Fletcher has used pine,
cedar, and oak to assemble these sturdy, durable, and fun toys. Depending on
the size and detail, Fletcher spends nearly four hours transforming a block of
raw wood into the finished truck or tractor. A load of logs is a special
addition to each log truck.
Through a love of woodworking crafts, Fletcher has taught himself
this art form. Without any special training, he has created designs and
patterns for each of his toys.
“The most enjoyable aspect of wood working,” Fletcher says, “is
making toys and seeing children enjoy them.”
Fletcher’s
toys can also be found at The Alabama Rural Heritage Center in Thomaston.
