Perry County
Metalworking & Jewelry

Lisa and daughter Danielle (Dani), a geology graduate from the University of South Alabama, work together fabricating silver bars, rocks, and gemstones into one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. The entire family would often go out on rock hunting outings and have come back with some great finds. One day they hope to use these found stones in their jewelry, but for now “We buy 1 oz. silver bars and roll them out by hand into usable silver sheet and wire using my rolling mill, and purchase already cut gemstones.” Each embossed pendant is individually crafted, a patina added, along with gemstones or glass – if the design calls for it.

In addition to their jewelry, both Lisa and Dani paint scrap steel from their shop – Lisa with watercolors, finished with resin to make the colors “pop”, and Dani with acrylics, blended together in an abstract style.

Lisa and her husband “loved being retired, for about 3 months”. So, before moving from Mobile to Marion in 2018, they enrolled in machinist and welding classes at Pensacola State. They loved it so much that they sold everything and built a shop at their new Perry County home where they provide CNC Plasma Cutting and Welding services, along with making their jewelry and artwork. Lisa says that “Dani and I do most of the welding. We love the peace and quiet of the Black Belt area … This is a very easy place to just breathe. The Black Belt makes it easy for ideas to flow.”

They share that the most enjoyable and rewarding aspect of creating is the “satisfaction of working with my hands. My hands always need something to do…except cleaning!”
