Join us for a Six Week Course in Ceramics (wheel throwing, slab work, sculpture...everything clay) for Beginners to Intermediates at Black Belt Treasures Cultural Arts Center. Learn all the basics: wedging clay, centering on the wheel, opening and creating simple bowls and mugs, along with using the slab roller, additive and subtractive sculpture, and basic decorating/glazing. Each week will build on the skills learned during the previous week...For those with some experience, we will expand on decorating techniques, shapes, and more advanced skills. All skill levels are welcome, and all students will be given individualized attention. We will create both wheel thrown work and hand-building and slab construction. Students will be able to choose which direction to focus after week 2.
This is a six (6) weeks course, that will build skills from week to week - so it is very important to attend as much as possible. In the event you must miss one class, it is possible to make it up during another class *with advanced approval of the instructor.
Additional clay and tools may be purchased for an additional fee. Material Fee also includes glazing and firing of pieces created during class and with first 25 pounds of clay.
