Metal Sculptures

“Giving cast-off items another life for others to share again,” is what inspires Edward in creating his metal sculptures. Recycling and creating art from scrap material are appealing qualities of this art form. Using scrap iron, car parts, farm plows, and horse shoes, he creates abstract and traditional sculptures. Edward acquires his materials from salvage yards or through donations by his friends. These constructions can take anywhere from one hour to two days to build.

Edward has no formal training in the assembly of his sculptures and truly hasn’t tried art in any other medium. His talent stems from growing up as the son of a farmer who was a welder as well. As a child, Edward would weld second hand parts together to create new tools and other objects. Just last year, family and friends encouraged him to develop this talent further.

Edward’s sculptures can also be found at the Monroe County Heritage Museum in Monroeville, Alabama.
