Lynn Crow said she “loved making baby
shower gifts and keeping my children in mittens and sweaters” when they lived
in Michigan. She was taught to knit by
her mother some forty five years ago, she thinks about creating a piece, then
checks the yarn she has on hand, and “when it comes together in my head I begin
making it” she said. Other ideas in the creative process comes from shopping,
looking at stitch patterns in books, from the internet as well as watching what
others are wearing.
Having lived in colder climates before
residing in the Black Belt has caused her to learn to use lighter materials,
yarns and stitches. She has also created paintings and fabric sculpture since
living here, and enjoys the pleasure on the faces of those that use items that
she has made.
Lynn is passing on her passion for knitting
by taking on students who would like to learn the craft from a person of her
talent and experience.
