BLACK BELT QUILT MURAL TRAIL

CLARKE COUNTY

#CL1: Cozy Quilters | Thomasville

THE BACK STORY

The Cozy Quilters' quilt block mural is made up of an eight pointed star (or compass), log cabin strips, and the two corner squares are divided into half and quarter square triangles. Each part represents a part of the Cozy Quilters.

  • The eight pointed star (or compass) consists of yellow and orange points that represent the ladies in the group. The red points stand for the many directions or counties the ladies travel from to participate.
  • The blue surrounding the compass represents the Tombigbee and Alabama Rivers that give Clarke County its shape.
  • The green squares represent the vast forest that makes up the communities where the Cozy Quilters live.
  • The log cabin strips stand for all the members of the Cozy Quilters.
  • The navy, yellow, and orange corner squares represent the coast to coast shop hop travels of the Cozy Quilters.
