Painting and Drawing
Drawing is a passion I have had since I was a little girl. Whether it was with a pencil, pen, or charcoal, I always found an escape once my medium hit the paper. It’s not just a form of expression for me—it's a release of my inner thoughts and emotions, finding their way out and onto the paper. Drawing allows me to capture a moment in time and reflect on the world around me.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time in Hybart, Alabama, where my dad’s family is from. We would frequently visit to see cousins, aunts, and uncles. I always loved the area. It was a huge contrast to our home in Atlanta, Georgia—the open spaces, the trees, the fields, the stars visible at night, and the sunsets that painted the sky. These experiences left a lasting impression on me and fueled my desire to capture them. I would bring my sketchbook along on these visits, sitting outdoors, drawing, and finding comfort in the simplicity and stillness of the landscape.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Art Education at Kennesaw State University, where my passion for both creating and teaching art truly began to flourish. After graduation, I began teaching art at a local high school in Newnan, Georgia. Teaching has been an incredibly rewarding part of my life, as it allows me to inspire and guide young artists to discover their own unique voices.
Drawing remains my favorite form of art, and I continue to explore new techniques and mediums. Whether working on large-scale projects or small sketches, I’m always striving to improve my craft. Ultimately, my goal as both an artist and educator is to share the transformative power of art with others, encouraging them to embrace their creativity and express themselves freely.
