Textile Artist
Wanda White is a textile artist from Alabama’s Black Belt, where her love of the land and family traditions are woven into everything she creates. Working mainly in crochet and sewing, Wanda favors natural cotton yarn for its durability, ease of care, and deep local roots.
Taught the basics of crochet by her grandmother as a child, Wanda returned to it after retiring in 2018. What began with reusable market bags grew into a passion fueled by vintage inspiration, social media, and creative requests from loved ones. She’s mostly self-taught, always learning through YouTube and hands-on practice.
For Wanda, crafting is both meditative and meaningful. Her pieces often reflect the rhythms of farm life and the values she grew up with—resourcefulness, sustainability, and community. She shares her art through local shops, markets, and with anyone willing to learn, especially children in the community and at church.
Creating is more than a hobby for Wanda—it’s a way to honor her roots, pass on stories, and make something beautiful and useful for others to enjoy.
