Quilter
Barbara Hall is a quilter from the Alberta/Gee’s Bend area who creates beautiful quilt pieces using fabric and thread. She gets her materials from regional fabric stores, and it usually takes her about two days to complete a quilt. Barbara gets her ideas by matching colors together and sees how they look. She does all her creations at home during her free time, cutting the materials and laying them out.
Barbara started sewing quilts in the 1990's after her grandmother showed her how. She later worked at a sewing factory. Her grandmother was also an artist, creating a variety of art. Barbara’s training comes from her family’s legacy as quilters and has been quilting since 2023.
The most rewarding aspect of creating for Barbara is the relaxation she finds in matching colors together. Living in the Black Belt has influenced her art, as it is a part of history that she is proud to be a part of through her creations. Her grandmother was a special inspiration to her as a young girl.
