Ed Davis was born, raised, and has lived in Camden, Alabama his whole life. He is known by many in his small town of Camden. He is a man of hard work, faithful friendship, knowing his way around the kitchen, and his love of woodworking. Ed Davis, or "Pawpaw" better known by his family, is famous for his "pawpaw chips", "pawpaw hair" and his birthday signatures. He spends his days taking care of men and women in the Camden Nursing Home. But home is where he finds his solitude. He finds peace living life on his farm right outside of Camden with his wife, Joy Davis.
Ed Davis has always said, “lind If you can draw it, I can build it". His love for woodworking started with making yard signs and has evolved over the years to furniture and most recently charcuterie boards.
He has a love for bringing his family’s ideas to life. Whether it be a charcuterie board, a bird house, a bar for a wedding, or a flower cart for a graduation party, it has been built by Ed. If you can draw it, he can build it.
For years his grandchildren have laughed at his crazy signature and the smiley face he would use on holiday and birthday cards. Over the years, his simple smiley face grew hair, glasses, and a tongue sticking out. But it was always expected that when a card from him was opened, the crazy smiley face would be on the inside.
Since his family loves his smiley face so much, he decided to add it to his initials and the year for his signature on all his woodworking creations.
Now, not only family but anyone who sees his pieces can turn it over to see his original signature. Whoever buys a piece of his woodwork may not be born family, but they become an extension of his family because they now have an Ed Davis original piece of woodwork.
