Wilcox County, Alabama

Painter/Mixed Media

“Living on a farm,” Jackie said, “I find time to work in between animal care and cutting grass,” as well as past and current renovation projects on her home and farm. Jackie’s materials include reclaimed wood and acrylic paint. Her ideas are derived from nature and “life in rural Alabama.”

Jackie admits to be self-taught, but has taken a few art classes “here and there”. Aside from painting on recycled wood, she has worked with pastels. Being a Navy wife, a professional chef and a “farmer”, Jackie is enjoying “the slower pace and beautiful scenery” of the Black Belt that “have inspired me to embrace a more folksy style of art.”

Besides showing her art at BBTCAC, Jackie participates in “Art-o-Mat Artists” in cellophane, miniature works sold in old cigarette machines. An artist with a great sense of humor, Jackie said she would share or teach her art “maybe if you ask real nice and have snacks.”
