Wilcox County

Fiber Artist

Jackie began sewing when she was thirteen years old and was inspired by her older sister who made her clothes when she was young. She also worked for a local Wilcox County clothing designer/manufacturer in the 1980’s. She now maintains a “sewing area” in her home.

Jackie loves children, sewing and makes Handmade Casual blankets in her little sewing room in Camden, AL under her business name, BlanketsbyJM.

Jackie says “I had gotten compliments in the past on my blankets so that's why I decided to offer some to the public”. My blankets are two layers but not quilts. I use 100% cotton light weight fabrics and flannel on some designs for cooler temperatures. I think they make great presents for showers and birthdays. Please check out my Shop Blankets by JM.

Jackie’s says she is following a family tradition of sewing and hopes to pass this on to her granddaughter in the near future. The most rewarding aspect of sewing is “to see an item go from pieces to a usable product.

“I have an Etsy and Facebook page” where she shares her blankets with others” says Jackie.
