Wood Work and Painter
Husband and wife artists Stephen and Belinda Smith work from two home art studios in Monroe County. These very talented artists work in collaboration with each other when Stephen’s wooden pieces are completed with painted enhancements by Belinda. He works with cedar wood, pine wood, various other wood species and metal accessories. Her materials are mainly acrylic paint and canvas.
Belinda’s interest in art began in childhood and was culminated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Impressionist Artists were influential in the development of her style and use of color. Stephen’s interest in wood work began in high school shop classes. His finished pieces are immaculately finished, whether one is a picnic table for a squirrel, a cell phone speaker/stand, an IPad stand or on a violin restoration, another of Stephens accomplishments. Both artists’ creative schedules vary from a few hours for small pieces to months for a restoration.
